Creepers represent infinity or Sanatana. It also represents continuity. It is difficult to find the start or the end of a creeper. Therefore creepers are carved in intricate manner in a Prasada to represent eternity. Similarly vegetation is also carved.

The heart is associated with the Gudamantapa or assembly hall. Heart draws the blood and pumps it out. It receives and gives out blood. Similarly, devotees who assemble in the Gudamantapa receive the energy from the GarbhaGriha.

Amruta Kalasha is placed at the top of the Vimana and corresponds to the space between the eye brows in the elevation (Prasada Purusha).

Nidhi Kalasas are placed beneath the deity. There may be 1 or 4 or 5 Kalasas depending on the custom of the region. These may contain grains or cereals or gems and precious stones. The deity is intended to spread the energy to the devotees who come to visit. Prosperity is required for offering protection to devotees. These articles represent prosperity and thus offer protection.

Vastu Purusha is represented both in plan and elevation. In the ground plan Vastu Purusha is shown as lying down. In the elevation, the representation is called Prasada Purusha. While these two representation seem like an overlap or multiplicity, it must be remembered that this aspect of temple is akin to Sukshma Sarira and therefore should not be seen too literally.

North East is the most auspicious corner. North is the residing part of the celestial denizens and North East is where the Lord himself resides.

The temple structure is the Sthula Sarira. The Vastu Purusha is the Sukshma Sarira of the temple. This aspect gives the energy to the temple. Puranas and various Granthas describe the Sukshma aspect of the temple.

Yoga Pada usually describes the method to involve oneself through Yoga Sadana and covers the mataphysical and spiritual aspects.

Agamas have taken an essence of rituals of Veda and have provided them in a form in which they can be performed in a temple by or for the benefit of a common person.

Vastu Granthas deal with architecture in a broad sense. They cover town planning, houses and residences of various royaly like King, Queen, Prince etc. Temple building is a primary subject of Vastu Granthas as they were the nucleus of all social activity
