Whole sacred zone of K?sh? is said to have a radius of five kroshas, about ten miles, and this zone is circled by a famous five-day pilgrimage called the panchakrosh?, with five stops along the way.

Manasa Teertha refers to a tranquil state of mind. This is one of the three types of teerthas mentioned in Skandapuranam. The other two are Jangama Teertha (a yogi) and Sthaawara Teertha (a place).

Rig Veda explains the mahatmayam of Prayaga or Ganga and Yamuna rivers. Teerthsnaanam at Prayag fetches Swarga as well as Moksha. Matsyapuranam mentions that teerthayatra is for all humans. Vaman Puranam mentions that teerthayatra gives punya to seven generations of ancestors and descendants and to themselves.

Sonprayag is the sangam of Vasuki and Mandakini rivers, but is not considered as part of the Panchprayags which are, in descending order, Vishnuprayag (Alaknanda and Dhauli Ganga), Nandaprayag (Alaknanda and Nandakini), Karnaprayag (Alaknanda and Pindar), Rudraprayag (Alaknanda and Mandakini) and Dev Prayag (Alaknanda and Bhagirathi).

There are 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams. These are primarily in Tamil Nadu and Kerala while some are in other States including Muktinath in Nepal.

The States that have a Jyotirling are Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh

Gayasura Rakshasa, just before being slayed by Mahavishnu prayed that as a penance, he become a Kshetra and that the devotees walk all over him. Thus Gaya is called an Asura Kshetra.

Kedarnath is not part of the Panchakaashi group of teerthas. It is one of the Char Dhams, one of the Panch Kedars and is also a Jyotirlinga

The great people are themselves Teertha, especially since they themselves have visited several Teerthas. That is why we touch their feet. They are called Jangama Teerthas

Kashi is Krita Yuga Kshetra. Kashi is also said to be the earthly manifestation of Shiva’s luminous sacred emblem, the linga of light, where Shiva’s infinite shaft of light pierced the earth. Badri and Mansarovar are also Krita yuga teerthas.

Saligrama are found in the Kali Ghandaki river in Nepal, near the teertha of Muktinath

Rig Veda , kila (10.75) has the earliest reference to Teerthayatra. It explains the mahatmayan of Ganga and Yamuna rivers.

Those who are not able to undertake Teerthayatra themselves delegate the responsibility to someone else. They underwrite the entire cost of the yatra; the person who takes the responsibility carries out all the rituals on behalf of the sponsor

Panchayatana Puja refers worshipping with a collection of five objects – Bana Linga (west – representing Shiva), Suryakanta (eastern India representing Surya), Shalagrama (north – representing Vishnu), Tarmayantra (from southern India representing Devi) and Shonaasma or red sandstone (from Central India representing Ganapati) are collected and worshipped. It is a way of worshipping the whole of India. It is also an intermediate between worshipping a form and formless.

Teertha means to cross. They help us cross our own limitations. Teerthas provide us the ambience for such discovery. To go towards Teertha is Teerthayatra.
Teerthayatra is when one can forget mundane activities and engage in spiritual discovery. Vishnu Dharma Sutra also calls Teerthayatra as one of the Saamanya Dharmas (universal without bar of qualification or time) as per Vishnu Dharma Sutra.

Haridwar is the gateway to all the Char Dhams and to the abode of devatas, but is not considered as part of the Char Dhams itself. Badrinath is the Char Dham that is not mentioned in the list of answers.

Chidambaram (representing space), Kancheepuram (earth), Thiruvannamalai (representing fire), Tiruvanaikovil (representing water) and Kalahasti (representing sky) are the five panchabhuta linga Kshetras. Kalahasti is in Andhra and the rest are in Tamil Nadu.

Maharashtra has three Jyotirlingas – Bhimashankar, Triambakeshwar and Grishneshwar. Madhya Pradesh has two – Ujjain and Omkareshwar. Varanasi is the only Jyotirlinga in Uttar Pradesh.

Bana Lingas are found in the river bed of Narmada in Omkareshwar which is also one of the Jyotirlingas.

Mahamaham is a Sarovar in Kumbakonam. Although not part of the five Sarovars mentioned in Puranas, it is the location of Mahamaham festival that is held once in 12 years.
